Death of Norman Blaine Moran

The officers and members of the Society of Sons of the Revolution in the State of West Virginia extend their most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Norman Blaine Moran who passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014. Norman Blaine Moran was the Vice President and Registrar of the Society of Sons of the Revolution in the State of West Virginia.

The following is his obituary from the Mullenbach Funeral Home.

(September 16, 1939 – September 7, 2014)

Norman Blaine Moran, 74 of Weirton, WV died peacefully on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Acuity Specialty Hospital in Steubenville, OH.

He was born on September 16, 1939 in Tunnelton, WV a son of the late Earl Sylvester and Mary Elizabeth (Wolfe) Moran. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Norman served his country in the Airforce where he served for over 20 years during the Vietnam War as a Master Seargent as a Team Master 401-MMS bomb loader on the B-52’s. After his retirement from the military he started a career as a clerk with the US Postal Service and later retired with 20 years service in Steubenville, OH.

He was a member of the American Legion, the S.A.R., the S.R., the N.C.O.A., and was Methodist by faith.

Norman is survived by his loving wife, Betty Jo (Freshour) Moran at home. Two children, Cynthia (Leonard) Riley, Jane Lew, WV and Timothy Moran, Weirton, WV. One brother, Virgil Andrew (Carol) Moran, Toronto, OH One brother-in-law, Nick Vogel, Blaine, TN One sister-in-law, Betty Lou Moran, New Cumberland, WV Five grandchildren Four great grandchildren

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 10th from 4:00 P.M. until time of services at 6:00 P.M. at the Mullenbach Funeral Home 669 Main St. Follansbee, WV with Pastor Rick Anderson, officiating. A committal service with full military honors will be conducted by the Taylor County Honor Guard at the Grafton National Cemetery 431 Walnut St. in Grafton, WV.
