Death of Dale Eugene John

On behalf of the officers and members of the Society of Sons of the Revolution in the State of West Virginia, we extend our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dale Eugene John, who passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015 at his home in Morgantown WV. Dale was 95 years old.

Dale Eugene John was a member of the Society of Sons of the Revolution in the State of West Virginia.

Dale Eugene John, 95, of Morgantown, passed away quietly at home surrounded by his family and caregivers Monday, August 17, 2015.

He was born in Morgantown on January 24, 1920, the son of the late Ernest John and the late Bessie Maude (Weber) John.

Dale was a graduate of Morgantown High School and Morgantown Business College. He was graduated from Ohio Architectural School. He served four years in the National Guard and was a member of the National Guard Band. Dale was employed at General Woodworking Company for 45 years designing new homes, remodeled homes and kitchens.

Dale was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church on High Street. He was on the Board of Directors for Friendship Manor, on the original Board of Directors for the Pines Country Club in charge of all the building construction. He was a 40 year member of the Kiwanis Legion of Honor and a member of the Society of the Sons of the Revolution and he received the Kiwanis George F. Hixon Leadership Award

He is survived by his son, William Dale John (Jane Brand) of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Scott William John of Greenville, SC and Christopher Brand John (Crystal) of Lakeland, FL; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn John and Karlee John of Greenville, SC and David William John of Lakeland, Fl. He is also survived by a niece and two nephews. Dale’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to his loving caregivers, Sandy Claypole and Pat Funk.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 40 years, Jane John and his sister, Lucille Kiger.

Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown Friday, August 21st from 5-8p.m. Visitation will continue on Saturday, August 22nd from 10:00a.m until the time of the funeral service at 11:00a.m. with Reverend Mark Kays officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover.
