Wreaths Across America requesting Reenactors and Living Historians

Wreaths Across AmericaWreaths Across America is requesting 200 volunteer reenactors and Living Historians to participate in their first Living History Tribute at Arlington National Cemtery on Saturday, December 17, 2016.

What is Wreaths Across America?
WAA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed in 2007 as an extension of The Arlington Wreath Project, with over 1,100 participating locations in all 50 states, and 24 national veteran cemeteries on foreign soil.

What began in 1992 with a trailer load of wreaths, decorated by volunteers and laid at the graves of fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery (See: The Arlington Story – How the Arlington Wreath Project was born) has now become a national organization with over 1,100 participating locations – all focused on the mission to Remember , Honor, and Teach.

Wreaths Across America needs the assistance of 200 reenactors and Living Historians
for Wreaths Across America’s first Living History tribute. The mission of Wreaths Across America is to remember our fallen U.S. veterans, honor those who serve and teach children the value of freedom.
On Saturday, December 17, 2016 thousands of people will be laying wreaths at national cemeteries across America as a way to remember and honor those that have fallen. On the same day, as a way of teaching that freedom isn’t free, we are going to be debuting our first Living History tribute at Arlington National Cemetery.
We realize reenactors and Living Historians bring history to life by representing those from another time who have made this nation great. We are seeking 200 volunteers to add their impression to this historic event and are seeking volunteers for the following:

– Women in Military (any era)
– Revolutionary War
– Buffalo Soldier
– Civil War
– World War One (WWI)
– World War Two (WWII)
– Korea
– Vietnam
– Operation Desert Shield
– Global War on Terrorism

We are also looking for two volunteers to play George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
Volunteers would need to arrive in uniform from 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Volunteers will have to provide their own attire. Volunteers will be assigned to a particular location in or around Arlington National Cemetery. While “on-duty” they will greet the volunteers distributing wreaths and visitors with a silent acknowledgement (salute, nod, bow or curtsy). If engaged by visitors they will be free to explain their portrayal and encouraged to discuss the details of the Living History tribute.
Due to security, absolutely no weapons (actual, imitation, replica, handmade, 3D, etc. ) are allowed.
Their contribution will immeasurably enhance a memorable event for all who attend.
